Logistics automation to serve economic and social responsibility objectives.
The automated warehouse, designed by Errevi Automation and tailored for Cortilia, integrates the latest automation and digitization technologies to optimize e-commerce service.
This advanced system was created with the aim of making order preparation more efficient and faster: the automation plant consists of 2 km of conveyors and covers an area of 15,000 square meters, able to handle a volume more than twice as much as the previous process with manual picking.
The warehouse is composed of three different storage areas at ambient temperature and controlled, for the optimal maintenance of the different categories of e-commerce products:
a room temperature area for dry
a 6°-10° temperature zone for fruit and vegetables
a temperature zone of 0°-2° for fresh products
The warehouse layout consists of 52 picking bays supplied manually by operators during the operations of receiving and refilling of rentals from stock. During the outbound phase, however, the picking bays allow the operator to manually pick products from the shelves in order to compose customer orders. The automation system in this sense allows the Cortilia boxes, each of which corresponds to a customer order, to visit the picking bays and the three zones at controlled temperature in an efficient and optimized way. At the end of picking, the automation system transports all boxes to the labelling, taping and sequencing area. This allows the boxes to be reordered on pallets according to the type of carrier and the priority level of the shipment, thus ensuring an optimization also in the phase of delivery to the customer by the driver.
A warehouse responsible for the environment and people
A warehouse therefore technologically advanced and responsible not only towards the environment, but also towards people, as operators remain a fundamental part of the picking and packing process and the ergonomics of their work have been improved
The automated warehouse is designed to support a continuously increasing volume of orders, minimizing human errors and significantly improving space management.
"The design of a semi-automated outbound system has overcome many of the constraints in the old, fully manual expense preparation system. In particular, it has allowed us to support the dynamism and strong growth of our business by ensuring flexibility and precision."
