DSV, a global leader in transport and logistics, has entered into a partnership with Exotec, a specialist in warehouse robotics. Exotec has fitted out DSV’s logistics centre in Venlo with the complete Skypod system.
Thanks to around a hundred autonomous Skypod robots, DSV is modernising its warehouse operations and taking a significant step forward in optimising the supply chain in the Netherlands.
The Skypod system supports fulfilment operations for various retail brands and manages around 90,000 containers and trays. This solution enables DSV to rapidly increase its operational capacity and storage density without the need for significant structural changes, whilst easily adapting to fluctuations in demand and product range.
To find out more about logistics automation solutions based on goods-to-person technology, please visit the page dedicated to Exotec’s Skypod system.
The goods-to-person solution boosts operational efficiency and improves the flexibility and scalability of the warehouse.
This enables DSV to consistently meet strict service level agreements (SLAs), keep operating costs under control and ensure continuity and efficiency even during peak periods, such as seasonal campaigns.
The facility, which also includes a mezzanine floor dedicated to returns processing, incorporates advanced features such as:
These features help to make the logistics process even more efficient and automated.

“We are proud to be supporting DSV in optimising its Venlo site,” says Jan Heijblom, Senior Sales Executive at Exotec Benelux.
“Our Skypod system is designed for environments that demand high standards of speed, precision and scalability. These aspects are crucial for leading 3PL logistics operators such as DSV, which must consistently deliver high performance and maximum flexibility. The solution is perfectly suited to the dynamics of the retail and e-commerce sectors.”
Barbara Klep, Managing Director of DSV’s Contract Logistics division, adds:
“In our warehouse, we use state-of-the-art storage systems and innovative automation solutions to best meet our customers’ needs and growth objectives.
The Skypod system gives us the agility we need to adapt quickly to change, whilst maintaining high levels of service and sustainable performance.
“In this way, Exotec helps to make distribution from the Netherlands more reliable, efficient and sustainable.”
